HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — Hillsborough County leaders could officially hit the pause button on new developments at Wednesday's commission meeting.

Commissioners will decide if they will pass an ordinance to pause developments in south Hillsborough County.

The final public hearing on two 270 day moratoriums on new applications for rezonings and planned developments is Wednesday morning at 10 a.m.

This is for the Riverview and Wimauma Village areas and only includes new applications, not new houses that have already been approved for construction.

People have asked commissioners to do something about the congestion, and some people told ABC Action News that the traffic there is almost unbearable.

Also at that meeting, commissioners will adopt a resolution to establish the Hillsborough County commission on human trafficking.

This comes less than three weeks after a massive human trafficking bust.

Officials want to act fast because as we get closer to major events in Tampa like The Superbowl and WrestleMania, they want to make it clear that human trafficking will not be tolerated in Hillsborough County.

A representative from the sheriff's office will make a special appearance at Wednesday's meeting to talk about the importance of this move.
